Grapeland chamber welcomes new directors

Some 180 members and friends of the Grapeland Chamber of Commerce gathered together on Thursday, Jan. 24 for the annual banquet and to welcome the 2008 directors.
The fun-filled event was held in the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center and included the induction of Brandon Bridges as president, and Aaron Pennington, Cliff Coldiron, Gary Taylor and Charley Darsey as directors.
Other board members include Ansel Bradshaw, Rhonda Shaw, Suzanne Fehrle, Carolyn Ivey, Linda Houston, Teresa Bennett, and Johnathon Marek.
Those attending bid farewell to outgoing Directors Amy Cutshaw, John Schell, and Martha Childress as well as 2007 President Norm Ormiston.
The delicious meal, provided by Kirby Spinks, was served by members of Grapeland High School FFA students.
Entertainment was provided by 2007 Peanut Queen Meredith Dotson who thrilled those attending with her cheerleader skit and Lindsey Cole delighted the audience with her singing.
Larry Roy had the crowd in stitches with his antics that included his hilarious interpretation of a politician running for office.
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples presented the informative program "Partners for Progess," an overview of projections for the next four years.
