Wreck in Local Intersection

Grapeland EMS transported Delontae James to ETMC Crockett following a Friday, Dec. 28 crash that occurred at the intersection of South Fifth Street and Fannin Avenue

According to reports, a 1996 Ford pickup, driven by Maurilio Gutierrez, was northbound on South Fifth Street when it collided with the 2006 Ford Taurus driven by Ms. James at about 12 p.m.

Ms. James was reportedly cited by Crockett Police Department for failure to stop at a designated point, driving without a driver's license and no insurance. CPD Officer James Putman responded to the call.

Witnesses said the impact of the crash damaged both doors on the driver's side of the westbound Taurus and it came to rest against a large sign on the property of a nearby bank.

Crockett Volunteer Fire Department used the jaws-of-life to extract Ms. James from the Taurus.

A passenger in Ms. James vehicle was not transported to the hospital.
