Local soldier honored

Corporal (P) Quenton D Watson, a former Lovelady Independent School District student, was awarded the Army Achievement Medal on Friday, Dec. 28.

After returning from his first deployment in Kuwait, CPL Watson served as the administration and training clerk for C Detachement 126th Finance Battalion.

CPL Watson was responsible for preparing training events and deployment packets so that the unit would receive a green status and deploy on time.

CPL Watson is currently stationed in Iraq on a 15 month tour.

He is the son of the late Tommie Watson of Lovelady, and brother of Derrick and Shawnteecia Watson both of Houston.
