Man jailed after allegedly attempting to sexually assault estranged wife

The Houston County Sheriff's Office arrested Randall Wayne Jones, 44, of Lovelady on Thursday, Feb. 13 after investigating allegations that he attempted to sexually assault and threatened to kill his estranged wife and himself on Jan. 30. He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (a State Jail Felony). According to the arrest affidavit (Probable Cause Affidavit), Jones' estranged wife appeared at the HCSO on Jan. 31 to report the alleged assault. The woman reportedly told authorities she had taken her two sons to visit Jones on Jan. 30 when the alleged attack occurred. According to the arrest affidavit, Jones allegedly physically carried his estranged wife over his shoulder into the house when she refused to enter on her own volition, then drug her into the bedroom. In addition to describing the alleged attempted sexual assault, the woman reportedly told authorities that Jones allegedly pulled a pistol out of a nightstand, threatened to kill himself, then threatened to kill her and then himself. The woman described her attempts to fight Jones off of her, and how she eventually escaped fom the house with her sons. While investigating the case and prior to obtaining the arrest warrant, authorities served Jones with a protective order. As of Friday afternoon, Jones remained incarcerated in the Houston County Jail. • • • A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by due process of law.
