Family Crisis Center Of East Texas Commemorates Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the Family Crisis Center of East Texas will commemorate the occasion by hosting a Balloon Release in Houston County. This year's theme is "Unmasking Domestic Violence." "We all have a responsibility to take a stand to prevent and hopefully eventually eradicate domestic violence," said Heather Kartye, Executive Director for the Family Crisis Center of East Texas. "Our planned activities will hopefully bring a greater understanding of domestic violence and how it affects the people and families of our community." The Family Crisis Center of East Texas will host a Balloon Release, along with a brief program, commemorating Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the clients served in the Houston county community. The balloon release will be at 12:00, noon, on Thursday, October 5, 2017 on the Houston County Courthouse Lawn on the downtown square in Crockett, TX. The community is invited to share in the event. Help support survivors while bringing attention to Domestic Violence Awareness Month by wearing purple on October 19, 2017, Go Purple Day! If your school, company, church, family or friends participate, please share your pictures on our Facebook page at www.facebook. com/fccet. The official "Unmasking Domestic Violence" t-shirt can be purchased at www.fccet.com. The shirts are $7, for short sleeve and $11, for long sleeve and are available now through October 31st. We would like to thank Real Graphics in Lufkin who generously donated a portion of the cost of the t-shirts. The Family Crisis Center of East Texas continues to advance its mission of enhancing the safety of women, children and men by providing crisis intervention and advocacy services to reduce and prevent the occurrence of family violence and sexual assault through education and community awareness. The agency provides numerous services and last year alone provided 1,204 residential and non-residential clients with over 100,000 essential services.
