Lady Dogs dominate at Hudson tournament

CORRIGAN – The C-CHS Lady Dogs' took their bracket Saturday at the Hudson Lady Hornets Softball Tournament at Kit McConnico Park in Lufkin outscoring opponents 70-4. Katy Burris hit 2 dingers, pitched 2 no-hitters and ended with a perfect game striking out 12 of 15 batters. The first of a double header on- Thursday, the Ladies beat Alto 11-0 with MaKenna Hughes on the mound shutting out the Lady Jackets allowing only four hits and throwing a runner out at first to clinch the win. The bats were also at work with seven runs in the fourth inning which included a stolen base by Hailey Nash, a triple from MaKenna Hughes, a double for Kamiyah Harrison, a triple for Paige Hooks, and a single from Alex Harrell. Hooks also had three stolen bases. No errors in the field. Mickey Reily Public Library held their annual Valentine's Day Party Monday afternoon on Feb. 13. Several "sweet" little Valentine patrons were in attendance to make crafts, have pictures made, and enjoy refreshments. In the second game, Katie Burris threw a perfect game against Kilgore winning 14-0. Molly Rayborn got things started with a stolen base, a homer compliments of MaKenna Hughes and a single from Alex Harrell. The "bombers" hitting home runs were Hughes, first inning; Harrell, second inning;. Paige Hooks and Burris, third inning. No field errors. On Friday, the Lady Dogs started the day beating West Sabine 11-1. Katy Burris batted a triple in the second inning and a home run in the fourth. Molly Rayborn and MaKenna Hughes also had doubles to snag the win for the Lady Dogs. In Friday's second game, Katy Burris struck the final blow by striking out the last batter and shutting out New Waverly 12- 0. At the bat, it was MaKenna Hughes's night as she went 4 for 4: doubling in the first, singling in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. No field errors. Saturday, the Lady Dogs defeated Newton thanks to the bats of Molly Rayborn who tripled in the first and doubled in the second. Hailey Nash and Kamiyah Harrison also collected multiple hits. Kalie Tubbs lead in stolen bases with two. Katy Burris pitched another perfect game defeating Tarkington 14-0 to clinch the win and final game of the tournament. Kamiyah Harrison drove in five runs going 3-for-4 with a homer in the second and doubles in the fourth and fifth innings. Hailey Nash also homered in the second inning. A total of 15 hits from Nash, Harrison, Molly Rayborn, MaKenna Hughes and Katy Burris. No errors committed. Congratulations to Coach Michael Scoggin and the Lady Dogs on their victorious outing.
