Corrigan Youth Football League Bulldogs crowned Super Bowl Champions

By Dontavia Roberts

On November 4th,the Corrigan Youth Football League Junior Varsity squad shut out the Hudson Seminoles with a final score of 19-0. The Varsity squad shut out the Hudson Bears in their game by a final score of 20-0. Coach Thomas Roberts of the Bulldogs stated" These boys worked hard since the early weeks of August to be prepared for this day. Our defense came out and played extremely well. Anytime you're able to hold your opponents to 0 points in this league is a tremendous achievement, and do it in the championship game is awesome!" Coach Desmen Hood stated "Offensively, we started off sluggish, but when you play defense like that you have to get it going sooner or later. Couldn't be more proud of the effort we gave today and look at us now we are Super Bowl Champions!!" The Junior Varsity, led by Coach Hood, finished with an undefeated 8-0 record, and the Varsity finished with a 7-1 record. "Hopefully this will inspire more kids to participate in Youth Football next year, we have an outstanding program, and coaches and board members who want nothing but the best for our community." Coach Roberts stated "I would like to thank Sherry Hughes, C-CISD Superintendent, and Barbara Roden, C-CISD Elementary Principal for supporting us this year and allowing us to have pep rallies, the kids really enjoyed that. Also Coach Seven Armstrong, who allowed us to use Bulldog Stadium. Coach Armstrong taught me and Coach Hood everything we know about football and we used his discipline and hard work philosophy and instilled it in this great group of young men we coached this year. With the core group of players returning for next year's season the Bulldogs will look forward to defending their 2017 Super Bowl title." Be sure and pick up next week's edition of the Corrigan Times for photos of the teams.
