ETEC to build Bio-mass Plant in Woodville

July 30—East Texas Electric Cooperative (ETEC) announced today that a contract has been finalized with North American Procurement Company (NAPCO) to develop a wood-fueled biomass plant in Woodville, TX. “This is really good news for Tyler County, storiesTyler County Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee Chairman Brian Babin said. “And the great news is that this will be a shot in the arm for our logging industry, there will be a lot more demand for their products.” T he plant will be the first of its kind for the area, converting excess wood materials into renewable, carbon-neutral power for ETEC member cooperatives. When completed, the plant will have the capability of producing 50 megawatts of power. The projection is that the plant will be up and running in about three years.
